And welcome to Friday at The Masters.
Sungjae Im is your 1st round leader by a narrow margin over a pack of guys who are plenty of worthy of wearing a green jacket. On the betting front, yesterday was a mixed bag for ya boy. Hit on Tiger going under 73.5 and Higgo over Migliozzi, but whiffed big on Spieth and Leishman. Is what it is, today's a new day.
Let's get to it.
Note: Be aware that these are ordered by Thursday's times. Refer to the column on the right and start halfway down.
Featured Groups for Friday, April 8:
10:12 a.m. – Dustin Johnson, Billy Horschel, Collin Morikawa
10:45 a.m. – Matthew Fitzpatrick, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy
1:41 p.m. – Tiger Woods, Louis Oosthuizen, Joaquin Niemann
1:52 p.m. – Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, James Piot
Might be a bit chilly for those going out in the morning, but it's awfully hard to ignore that wind in the afternoon. That's an area of concern for Tiger and other guys looking to lock up a spot for the weekend (remember, top 50 and ties and NO 10 shot rule)
Update: Yup, gonna be a wild one.
Cam Smith is the live favorite at +500 at the Barstool Sportsbook. Tiger's position is more or less the same as it was when he teed off. Interesting.
I like the position that I'm in with a ticket on Cam and my Scheffler +3100 ticket from 2 months ago, but if I were looking to toss a flyer on somebody down the board it might be HVIII at +9000. This is a good nugget that he checks the boxes on and he's on the earlier side of Friday's tee times.
Kevin Na +15000 (!) and Harry Higgs +25000 (!!!) also check those boxes. Would be stunning but could be fun.
Corey Conners Leader After Round 2 +1800 - He's sitting at -2 and is on the early side of tomorrow's draw. Up against it with Sungjae also playing early but Conners has played well here enough times to have me believe this is worth a shot.
Round 2 Sixshooter E Harry Higgs +450 - Loved his game his first day out at ANGC. 5th in SG: Approach on Day 1. Rest of the guys in this pod are Harman/Young/Min Woo Lee/Cink/Swafford. Only Harman really gives me pause.
Patrick Reed (-117) over Seamus Power (9:06 AM) - I know Reed has been reeling but he has a green jacket and we're talking about Seamus Power here. Experience plays at Augusta.
Dustin Johnson (-122) over Collin Morikawa (10:12 AM) - I have very strong suspicions that DJ may be #back.
Sepp Straka (-148) over Francesco Molinari (11:29 AM) - Molinari's soul left his body on the back 9 in 2019 and never came back. Shot a 78 yesterday. Straka is right on the cutline in his first time here and highly motivated to play the weekend.
Talor Gooch (-122) over Jason Kokrak (12:57 PM) - Gooch was 2nd in SG: Approach yesterday. Been having a great year. Gimme tha Gooch.
Let's have ourselves a Friday…. at the Masters.
