Chael Sonnen Felony Charges Dropped, Bumped Down To 6 Misdemeanors

If you're not caught up on the reports about Chael Sonnen's hotel room brawl this past December, read my blog from yesterday here….

We still don't know for sure what happened, but if the alleged brawl was half as bad as described in the police reports, it's really, REALLY bad.

Now when it comes to today's news - I have no understanding of the law process beyond what I've seen on SVU, but the felony charges getting dropped today still surprises me based on everything about this case that has come out. I wouldn't necessarily take it as Sonnen being innocent yet either, if you feely strongly one way or the other already, as I've seen some backseat lawyers on Twitter/Reddit saying that felonies are harder to prosecute than misdemeanors and that may be why this happened, but who knows. 

Maybe Mike Portnoy Esq knows, actually. Love that guy.

Anyway, as much as I wish this whole report was false and the allegations were untrue - as someone who has been a fan of Chael Sonnen for as long as I've been watching mixed martial arts - I still think Chael looks pretty bad in the police report and interviews that have come out recently. He told cops that he didn't remember anything that happened after taking a sleeping pill that night, and his wife (who was in their hotel room the entire length of the alleged altercation) woke up in her hotel room with bruising and injuries she didn't know how she sustained. She denied it being any sort've domestic dispute, but it's all just a rough look.
