One Of The Best New Artists Out, Sam James, Dropped A New Heater With Moneybagg Yo and NoCap

Trap meets the blues in Sam James’ new single.

You might remember Sam from the song I did with him right before Covid rocked the world and my prediction that he'd be the "Best New Artist of 2021"

The song we did, "Givin' Up On Love" can be heard here.

Sam's a Worcester kid himself. We went to high school together at St. John's together, he was a few years behind me, and best friends with my best friend's little brother.

Between then and now Sam's been on Adam Levine's team on The Voice, then was invited on John Legend's Songland show. He made decent runs on both and began catching the eye of various artists on social media, covering their songs.

He recently signed a label deal with Republic Records, home label to Bo Burnham, Ariana Grande, Drake, Benee, James Bay, James Blake, Kid Cudi, Florence + the Machine, Seth MacFarlane, John Mellencamp, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, Of Monsters and Men, Liam Payne, Black Sabbath, Hailee Steinfeld, Twice, Taylor Swift, and Stevie Wonder just to name a few.

His first release was the record "Going Through It" featuring Memphis' Moneybagg Yo, and NoCap.

We had Sam on our podcast "On The Guestlist" last week to discuss and it ended up running way over time as we got into talking about growing up in Worcester, being horrible kids back in the day, how he got into music out of nowhere, taught himself, and how I learned about it by walking into a bar on Water St. on Black Wednesday and saw him on stage. From there we talked about his journey, the ups and downs, being so frustrated he almost quit, and the lessons he's learned along the way.

I know everybody hypes their podcasts as must listen, but this one really is.

If you need a little inspiration, feel like you've hit a wall, or questioning your goals or dreams, this is a great listen for some motivation.

Sam is an amazing talent, and a better person. He's really earned his success and he's seriously just getting started.
