Cody Bellinger Is Doing His Best Chris Davis Impression By Trying To Strike Out In Every At-Bat This Spring.

Cody buddy, what the hell is going on? MVP in 2019, a really down season in 2020 when they won the World Series, but now he's just....bad? I hate taking spring training stats seriously, it's hard to do. But can someone explain how on earth Cody Bellinger has 14 strikeouts in 19 at-bats this spring? What has happened to our beloved Cody? He really has turned into Chris Davis. His numbers so far this spring are disgusting, just awful.

The 14 strikeouts in 19 at-bats just screams Chris Davis. Going up there flailing and anything and everything. .158 average/.200 OBP/.158 slugging. YUCK. No extra base hits, just one walk. There are people saying he may not start for the Dodgers, and a horrible spring coupled with a pretty bad 2021 season could turn into just that. Imagine in 2019 someone telling you that Bellinger would be a bench player for the Dodgers by 2022. I get he was injured in 2021 and actually had a pretty good playoff run, but that hasn't translated to spring. Not that it needs to because like I said, spring training stats don't mean shit. But when you don't perform and are injured in 2021, you'd want to have a good spring, not strike out 14 out of 19 times. That seems hard to do, like most players could get a pop up or 2, but 14 Ks…sheesh. The Dodgers did sign Kevin Pillar who seemingly may be taking Bellinger's place in the OF if Cody can't get it going. Lucky for him there is the DH this season so maybe he can take some time off from the field and just focus on hitting.

He looks lost up there, he looks slow with the bat. I read that he was tinkering with his swing a lot which seems like it's hurting him more than it's helping him. But at least he's trying to change it up, Chris Davis never did that, so he's trying. But man, Dodgers fans are ready to throw Bellinger out with the trash, he's got a short leash out there in LA. He's too good not to figure it out, he just is. But man this is a rough 2 plus years for Belli. Just crazy that he won an MVP 2 seasons ago and now he may lose his job.
