Villanova Is A Goddamn Machine

Yeah, I mean what else can I say. Villanova is a fucking machine (in even number Tournament years). I'm honestly shocked by this even though we shouldn't be. Nova plays 6 dudes, two of them have to go 38+ each night. Doesn't matter. Jay Wright has turned into a guy who made a living as the guy who was a top-2 seed, got bounced early and was on the CBS studio show for the second weekend. Not anymore. This is now his 4th Final Four and each one has been done differently.

This year's team? They won ugly. It's not like they lit up Houston, they won ugly. Jermaine Samuels showed up and was the guy who looks like a top-3 pick simply based on the NCAA Tournament. Was part of it Houston shooting roughly 3% from three? Of course. But Nova handled everything in terms of Houston's pressure and aggressiveness. That was the way you had to beat Houston. They did. This is why Jermaine Samuels and Gillespie came back and why Jay Wright cried during his post game interview.

But there are some concerns. Justin Moore's injury was NASTY

It's unreal how Nova just shows up in even years apparently. This *shouldn't* have been a great matchup for them because of the inability to invert the offense. But, what Nova does better than anyone else is just play basketball. Wright and staff talked about it before. They don't 'run plays.' The entire offense is predicated on beating a guy, forcing help and kicking until there's an open shot. It sounds simple and it is in theory, but nobody executes it better than Nova. A machine.
