This Is Officially The Weirdest Elite Eight We've Ever Seen

This isn't even just because St. Peter's is here. Sure, it has plenty to do with that but look at the entire Elite Eight again. One 1 seed and it was a Kansas team that a lot of people started to write off after they lost by 30 at home to Kentucky. Oh and they are the 1 seed that draws a double digit seed in the Elite Eight. You have Houston getting back to the Elite Eight after losing Marcus Sasser and Tramon Mark to injury during the year. You have UNC who did this during the year.

Look at that again! What other sport does this happen? Only here. The bracket just broke open for them too with St. Peter's. They had to beat a 9 seed, 1 seed and 4 seed. They beat the best seeds they could possibly play in each round until here.

Just think to a year ago when it felt like some mayhem with an 11 seed and a 12 in the Elite Eight. There was still three 1 seed and a 2 seed there. All that is gone this year. I don't remember a weirder Elite Eight. I don't remember all the storylines that we could get.

Shit, even the ACC doesn't make sense. Two things can be true that the ACC was down this year and got hot in March. Nobody ever thought there would be three ACC teams in the Elite Eight. It doesn't make a ton of sense but that's the beauty of this thing. You play who is in front of you and advance. None of it tends to make sense, yet here we are.

The matchups are even weird. A rematch of the 94 title game. A blue blood vs a 15 seed. A new blood in Nova vs a program coming closer to that status. Kansas vs Miami. That one just sounds weird. Jim Larranaga is one win away from taking George Mason and Miami to a Final Four. Say that out loud and I promise you you sound crazy.

It's incredibly cliche but the NCAA Tournament always delivers. This specific one is showing that more than anything else. Sure we haven't had our buzzer beater yet, but we've had a ton of close games and just mayhem everywhere.
