USMNT Fans Needed A Massive Police Escort To Get Into The Match Against Mexico, Walked Out One Single Win Away From The World Cup

I am a diehard USMNT fan who would love to attend as many matches as possible. That said, I don't know if you could pay me to go to Estadio Azteca for a USMNT/Mexico game. Not when I need that sort of police escort to get in there. Maybe back in my day when I was spry. But now? Nope. Anyways, that's just an insane and awesome image of USMNT fans walking into the enemy. 

Now onto the game. We got a point. 

In a vacuum that's awesome and huge. The goal was to get 4 points somehow this window and that would lock up an auto qualify bid for the World Cup. That's the goal. Doesn't matter if you finish 1st or 3rd in the qualifying. It all counts the same. Now outside of the vacuum? We should have won that game. We're better than Mexico. Flat out, we're a better team than Mexico and have been for the last year. The fact we didn't score either of these is beyond ridiculous. 

I still have no idea what Pefok was doing there. I like Pefok too but what the fuck man. Here's the real problem. USMNT doesn't have that true 9. Pepi is probably about it. We need to adjust and try something like Gio as the false 9 and play Pulisic out wide. Also just let Gio cook because he can do cool shit like this. 

This is where the US has a good problem. We have awesome players that give us a bunch of depth in certain spots. When we have guys like Adams, Musah, McKennie and Gio all healthy, Gregggggg has to make calls. I'd love to see all on the field together it's just most likely impossible unless we have someone playing out of position. 

Now onto the bad? Besides not getting all 3, we are going to be without Weah and Yedlin on Sunday for a must win home game against Panama. Both picked up yellow cards and because soccer has the dumbest rule in sports, we're down them. We're also likely down Reggie Cannon who tested positive for COVID and missed last night. That's a problem. Remember, top-3 auto qualify and the 4th goes to a playoff. We're down to a 5 team race for it all too: 

A win against Panama locks up the World Cup. We'll get to 25 and even if Costa Rica beats El Salvador we'll cruise on goal differential for the first tie breaker. Three points last night would have been awesome. But the goal of this window was always just beat Panama at home and get a point at either Mexico or Costa Rica. We're halfway there. 

One win and we're doing World Cup watch parties again.
