Conor McGregor Wants A Title Shot Against Kamaru Usman In His Return Fight

Oscar Willis of The Mac Life caught up with Conor McGregor last week at The Black Forge Inn, Conor's pub in Ireland, and among many things, brought up the possibility of McGregor returning to a title fight this year, which "The Notorious" seemed all for....

"I am going to waltz back into a title shot. Make no mistake about it. It's that or I won't [fight], what else could it fuckin be?"

Conor getting a shot at the Welterweight Championship after coming off back-to-back losses at 155lbs and going 1-3 in the last four years would send MMA Twitter into an all-time triggered tailspin, and I kinda hope it happens just to watch the chaos unfold - but obviously, it doesn't make any sense in the scope of the UFC/rankings.

He's Conor McGregor, after all, though, so if he says I'm getting a title shot or I'm not fighting....he may just get that title shot. You could despise it all you want, but you know it's probably true. What's Dana supposed to say? "Kick rocks kid, we don't want your business anymore!" or somethin? I'd rather see Conor get an undeserved shot at the title than never see him fight again, and I know it's not just the nuthuggers who think that.

Realistically, I think McGregor should come back against someone like Michael Chandler after he gets through Tony Ferguson, or Rafael dos Anjos - or even Nate Diaz, to complete the ol' trilogy. I feel like people would LOVE that right now.

If he wants to come back at 170lbs, which it sounds like he does - and let's be honest, McGregor looks HUGE....

….why not face somebody in the Top 5 there before hopping right to the P4P #1 who just did THIS to Masvidal?

That being said, I don't think it's INSANE to suggest Conor could actually clip Usman and KO him considering Gilbert Burns did this to him….

….so if you want me to drink the McGregor Kool Aid here and blindly accept this fight, I will. Don't threaten me with a good time.

Fore Play got their Tiger winning the Masters moment in 2019, and I will get my Conor winning the title moment one day too. You just gotta believe.
