Kris Bryant Gets 7 Years $182 Million From The Rockies Who Continue To Prove They Have No Idea What They're Doing With Their Baseball Team

The Colorado Rockies have absolutely no clue what they want to do with their baseball team and it's never not funny to remember that. They might as well be a shell company used for money laundering. At least that would kinda explain the rhyme or reason to these decisions.

Just a year go Colorado shipped off their franchise home-grown star in Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals along with $50 million to help St. Louis pay the remainder of his deal. The Cardinals didn't pay Arenado a dime in 2021. In return the prospects they got were underwhelming, with neither guy falling in the top 5 player of the system. It was essentially a salary dump. The Rockies had ample amounts of time to trade Trevor Story over the last two seasons when it was painfully obvious they had no interest in signing him back. Instead they let him reach free agency where he still currently seeks out a new team. Now they are giving Kris Bryant a 7 year deal for $182 million.

?????

The funny part, and it's only funny for non-Rockies fans, is that a new GM is at the helm making these moves. Unfortunately Dick Monfort is still calling the shots as the owner so the philosophy, if you wanna call any of this philosophy, has not and will not change anytime soon. An average thinking human being on the strongest drugs could run a team better than what we've seen in Colorado lately.

We know how this goes. This is just to show the fans they're not tanking even though they have zero interest of competing.  I look forward to the Kris Bryant trade rumors in 2023. Hell, maybe he's on the block this summer. Best part of all this is they gave him a full no-trade clause so he can handcuff the fuck out of them when they decide to move on. Chef's kiss.

Good for KB by the way. He got his ring and now gets the big payday. Can't blame him for a second. Plus, as I mentioned, he'll find his way onto a winner soon enough once the magic eight ball the Rockies organization shakes says to ship him off. Monfort should not be allowed to own this team. This was the blog I wrote following the Arenado trade ripping him. Guy just sucks.

P.S. Carl asked me to include this footnote as he's currently out for his birthday. Please read this for him.

He’s one of my favorite players of all time. Devastating to see him long term with a team that doesn’t know what they’re doing. Happy he made his big money but just a complete whiff on MLB to let his talent go to the Montfort family. Tragic. Same people who let Nolan walk. I demand justice but again I’m happy for my guy. - Champ - 35 year old birthday boy
