Top Prospect Adley Rutschman Is Being Sidelined For 2-3 Weeks, Likely Won’t Be On The Opening Day Roster And I Am Worried.

I’ll never understand why bad things happen to good people like myself. Adley Rutschman, the top prospect in all of baseball and the savior of the Orioles is being shut down for 2-3 weeks due to a right triceps injury. The Orioles are taking extreme precautions with Rutschman and making sure this doesn’t turn into anything worse. This does pretty much answer the question that we all were wondering, will Adley make the Opening Day roster, now we know that likely won’t happen. I’m not going to say the TJ word, I won’t. I’m not going to think about what happened with Matt Wieters in May of 2014, you can’t make me.

Obviously this has people on edge. It was reported he woke up with some soreness in his right tricep Saturday morning after a team scrimmage on Friday. They help him out of workouts on Tuesday and revealed that an MRI showed no structural damage to his elbow or tricep. That’s great news to hear, but anytime I hear elbow/shoulder/forearm/bicep/tricep soreness or anything like that my ears perk up. I’ll just say I’m worried. Whether it means something like surgery happens soon, or it’s put off for a while, I’m worried. It’s alarming because we have this kid who is supposed to be the savior and we’re worried about a potential arm injury. It’s nerve wracking. I’m not saying this will become anything, obviously the lockout screwed everything up and maybe this was just his body responding to the workload after a long layoff. For Orioles fans sake I hope it is.

He’s going to rest for 2-3 weeks and we will take it from there, they just signed Robinson Chrinos so he’ll likely be your catcher on Opening Day and hopefully Adley will be up shortly after. For now we’re crossing our fingers, saying prayers, and not googling what tricep discomfort can lead to.

Please keep me in your prayers.
