Patrick Kane Says It Would Be An Honor And A Privilege To Finish His Career With The Chicago Blackhawks

I readily admit that I am a sentimental little bitch. I don't want to watch Patrick Kane in another sweater. I want Chicago to own all the Patrick Kane memories and more than that…I want more memories with him. I think it is possible. I love that Davidson didn't necessarily shy away from the questions about 19 and 88 and said that they'd be involved and aware of the process. He said it was a rebuild instead of a "retool". How those things are defined, I don't really know. What I do know is that if Toews and Kane will extend their deals then the Blackhawks can, in my opinion, run on parallel tracks. They'll need more high-end players, including franchise foundational type players, but if 19 and 88 are back then you have a decent veteran group to build around

Kane

Toews

Jones

Debrincat

Murphy

McCabe

Hagel

That's not bad. It's not good enough, but it's not bad. Especially if you are optimistic about young players currently in the pipeline.

Reichel

Dach

Strome

Stillman

Mitchell

Wyatt Kaiser

Can a couple of those guys become legit top 6 guys? Can one of the dmen develop into a legit NHL dman? Top 4? I don't know, but if they are then as Kane said a couple weeks ago…they're closer to being a playoff team than people give them credit for. Are they are Cup team…no fucking way, but Davidson can start finding those guys over the next 3-5 years of the rebuild while trying to be competitive with 19 and 88 still in the fold.

The money has to be right. The plan has to be right, but Kane being open to playing here is a very good thing. Better than the alternative, in my opinion, which would feel like the tweet below but worse
