Barstool Mardi Gras Smokeshow Of The Day - Blue Oak BBQ From New Orleans, LA

Happy Fat Tuesday to all who observe. Now when it comes to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, I feel like most people's minds immediately go to beads and boobs. But what if there were another 'B' word that we should be focusing on? One that truly puts the fat back into Fat Tuesday? One that truly speaks to your most basic and primal desires as a human. We're of course talking about barbecue.

And if you're looking for great barbecue in New Orleans, nobody does it better than the folks over at Blue Oak. Looking for a couple slices of some classic, perfectly fatty and tender and succulent brisket? They've got you covered.

Want to get a little crazy and spice things up a bit by throwing those slices of brisket into a bowl of ramen? They've got you covered.

But why stop there? If we're already going wild then we might as well go all the way. So how about a chopped brisket sandwich topped with some bang bang shrimp?

Speaking of sandwiches, they also have one of the better looking spicy chicken sandwiches I've ever seen. Not that fried chicken is necessarily a staple of "barbecue", but it'll be a cold day in hell if this bad boy is on the menu and I'm not ordering it.

And if you have one of those wacky vegetarians in your life, never to fear. Because these Brussels sprouts also get the needle moving. Funny thing about the needle is that it's located in my pants.

So yeah. Whether you're in New Orleans right now living it up with Mintzy or you just have a trip to New Orleans somewhere on your bucket list, then do yourself a favor and get Blue Oak BBQ involved in those plans. We're only alive on this giant spinning rock for a finite amount of time. Stuff your face with as much delicious food as you can.

P.S. - If you're not in New Orleans but still want to eat like you are tonight, allow my good pal Malcom Reed to teach you how to throw together some spicy shrimp.
