Rafael Fiziev Is OUT Of His Fight Against Rafael dos Anjos And I Will Step In If I Need To
The Battle of the Rafaels is off.
Rafael dos Anjos was just on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, and while they were discussing the rumors about Rafael Fiziev potentially not making it to the octagon this weekend, Fiziev's manager texted Helwani to confirm that his is in fact out with COVID. Apparently he's got it pretty bad, as well, so best wishes and get well soon to Fiziev.

Paul Felder has already stepped up and offered to come outta retirement on five days notice to get another crack at Rafael dos Anjos (and the first fight was on short notice too!)….
Islam Makhachev wants to fight him at 170lbs (just two days off beating Bobby Green) as they've tried and failed to set up a fight THREE TIMES NOW….

I can start bulking up now. I will have no problems missing weight, would definitely talk some shit at the presser, and Rafael dos Anjos would be virtually guaranteed to go home with a win. It'd be a great opportunity for the haters to see me get my ass kicked as well.

Seriously, though, if Makhachev can pick up wins in back-to-back weeks here that would be INSANE. That's the replacement fighter I'd like to see the most just to see that happen. Felder would also be sweet but I can't imagine he's improved as a mixed martial artist since their last fight, ya know? No offense to Felder.
It'll probably either be Islam Makhachev or me. We'll see. Depends if Islam can hit 165lbs it seems….
