Elden Ring Is An Absolute Masterclass - This Game Completely Blew Away Everyone's Expectations
Elden Ring is FUCKING AWESOME - there's no other way to say it. I went into this game with an open mind and was hoping it would live up to the hype of a Dark Souls or Skyrim. After playing 5 hours on stream, the game is unbelievably well made. Almost shocking how good the game is. Is this because every single recent new gaming release has been a total flop? Maybe. After being crushed by Cyberpunk's terrible launch, GTA 6's never ending development, or Battlefield/CoD flopping for another year, it just felt like game developers lost their touch...until diving into Elden Ring.
Disclaimer: If you're not someone who enjoys Skyrim or Dark Souls, you will NOT like Elden Ring. It's extremely grind-y, complex and has an insanely deep and detailed storyline. This isn't a game you can casually play for an hour or so here and there, it's meant to be played for hours on end. It's the type of game you turn on at 3pm and by the time you look at the clock, it's close to midnight. There's so much to do within the open world that you'll never run out of side quests or rune farming.
There's also ridiculous creatures you'll find in the world:
When first loading up the game, you'll immediately be overwhelmed with an absurd amount of customization for your character. I'm never someone who really cares about how my character looks in the virtual world so I pick a fairly standard/default build. But a lot of people love the customization of characters. Exhibit A: Dr. Disrespect spent HOURS today on customizing his character - you know the Doc never settles for anything but the best. So, if you have this same level of meticulous detail, you can make your character however you'd like with thousands upon thousands of customization options.

For character type, I went with the Samurai build. In RPGs (Role playing games), it's always beneficial to have character with good strength attributes. I'd say the best build for starters are Vagabond or Samurai. Both characters have solid strength attributes which in turn gives you solid melee and health. More health is always better - it lets you tank more hits and give you some room for error.
I may play through my Samurai character to a degree and then switch and make a magic-type character. There was an astrologer build that really caught my eye, but I knew it'd be too advanced to play off the rip. The beauty of these types of games is that you can play the storyline over with different character types and have a much different experience playing the game. At the end of the day, make sure you're playing to your character's abilities. It's just like sports or life - Ben Simmons shouldn't be shooting 3s, Shaq shouldn't be shooting free throws, and melee characters shouldn't be fighting at range. Play to your character strengthens!!
Last tip I'll give you (for now) is below -
Get those runes and level your character up ASAP! The higher your level, the easier you'll have facing bosses and enemies. Stormhill Shack, don't forget it!
Alright, I gotta go play more Elden Ring and cancel my weekend plans…
