Cuncel Da Saeson

I'm not sure the last time we had a cuncel blog around these parts or if there has ever been one for the Knicks since their seasons would usually be over by the end of the Christmas Day game if not Opening Night. But last year's blip of happiness got all our hopes up to the point we could feel feelings for the Knicks again before this year powerbombed that hope through a table.

Actually, powerbombing through a table is a bit extreme for what this season has been. Hope has actually slowly, gradually, but still painfully bled out from the fans as we've gotten the full Thibs Experience in less than two full seasons, from winning Coach of the Year after riding his vets extra hard to more wins than anybody expected to Coach on the Hot Seat for not playing the kids enough when the vets came up short before blowing three (3) 20+ point leads in the last seven games knocked us out for good.

Losing Derrick Rose was catastrophic since he was the only truly competent point guard on the roster, the defensive hit from getting rid of Elf + Bullock was even worse than any of us could've imagined, and Knicks fans gatekeeping who could/couldn't use the phrase Bing Bong when things were going good for like a week was a ton of bad juju for a fanbase that should've just been happy we were no longer a punchline while enjoying winning basketball.

I would say Stephen A. Smith's rant about the Knicks being trash was the nail in the coffin, but he's been good for one of these after every three game losing streak for roughly the last two decades.

But KD coming over the top as the Nets B team beat the Knicks as whatever fans the Nets have took over MSG while Cam Thomas had fire coming out of his fingers was the official cuncel moment of the season.

Now it's time to play the kids without a care in the world about what the final record will be once the All-Star Break is over and start researching college players for the draft while we hope for a little bit of luck from the Lottery Gods since we are the most due team on the planet right now.

I was going to insert a Hello Darkness My Old Friend gif here but making it to mid-February for a blog like this would've been cause for a parade a few years ago. So yay? But seriously, I still believe in Leon but there needs to be some semblance of competent point guard play next season that doesn't rely on Derrick Rose's 34-year-old body staying healthy.
