Bob Saget's Official Cause Of Death Has Been Ruled An Accident And It's All Just So Sad

Yesterday The Hollywood Reporter shared a statement they received from Bob Saget's family revealing the cause of his death as an accidental blow to the head.

In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful.

Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.

The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.

As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.

At the time of the incident he'd been on the road with his "I Don't Do Negative Comedy Tour", and the evening after his final show Saget posted about how he was finding his new voice "and loving every moment of it". On Twitter he'd said, "I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this shit." It felt like he was on the verge of the next big phase of his incredible career and he was exuding so much positivity at a time when it was really needed.

He is greatly missed already.

There's certain celebrities that you grow up with that just feel like home in a certain way, and Bob Saget was one of them. Full House & America's Funniest Home Videos were my everything when I was a kid. The threat of not being allowed to watch either of those shows was enough to make me eat all my vegetables, brush my teeth & clean my room. I was a total Danny Tanner-head. He was a big deal. Then, when I was a little older, there he was in Half Baked with a line that dropped my jaw having only known him as a 'wholesome dad' before. The roasts, the show cameos like Entourage that always nailed it, his standup… He never missed. And by all accounts he was just a genuinely good, respected and loved person in an industry where all too often you hear the opposite.

It's terrible that he's gone and in such a tragic way, and I'm so sad for his close family and friends. As they said in their statement today, "We ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world". And I believe he would definitely still want us laughing.. Only weeks before his passing he was on CBS Mornings and spoke about the death of his sister. (He raised over $26M for Scleroderma research.) Whenever it got heavy he'd make a joke to lighten the mood for his interviewer and this stood out to me:

Interviewer: "So even at this very serious moment, humor comes in."

Bob Saget: "Humor is the only way my family survived. It is so healthy to laugh. And I'm out there doing it, and I know it's healing for people."

With all the footage of so many great moments there's no doubt he'll continue healing people with laughter for a long time to come.
