Eminem Was Almost Cast As MAD MAX In Fury Road

George Miller: He’d done 8 Mile, and I found that really interesting — I thought, He’s got that quality. We’d done the first Happy Feet with the late Brittany Murphy, and she had done 8 Mile, so I asked her what he was like and would this be something really interesting for him? She had no reservations about saying what a wonderful talent he is.

George Miller: We did get in touch with him, though that’s as far as it went because we were going to shoot it in Australia at that point, and he simply didn’t want to leave home. I think he had the impression that if he could do it out of his home state, then he’d be up for it.

This is one of those stories that is so outlandish that I thought it was an elaborate gag. The guy who only did 8 Mile(which was admittedly a good movie) and a really funny cameo in 'Funny People' as the lead in one of the greatest action movies ever?

Insanity! Especially knowing what we know about Tom Hardy being an elite actor in the game. The idea of him being QB2 to Eminem is laughable.

There are 2 things that about this reveal that are particularly hilarious to me.

1. The way this is phrased makes it seem like the only reason Eminem didn't get the job is because he refused to leave Michigan to film a nearly $200 million dollar action epic in Australia. I'm with you, Marshall! Who wants to spend nearly 24 hours in the air to go to the most cursed contient on earth

2. I only assume that, if Eminem accepted, he would make the accompanying soundtrack as well. Remember that one truck with the guitar guy?

Giphy Images.

Gone. Instead it would be Nikki Minaj rapping the entire verse of Monster uninterrupted. She would also feature on his tracks for the movie which would be called something like "The Hard Road".

Pedal to the metal, VROOM VROOM!/ Blowin up your car, BOOM BOOM!
Gona put you in the grave, TOMB TOMB!/ Behind me? You get exhausted. FUME FUME!

And a ton of people would insist it was good just like his Venom track even though it sucks.
