ANNNNNNNNDDDD WE'RE OFF!!!

I have to say, on a personal level, this trade infuriates me. Norm Powell was on my list of guys I wanted Brad to bring in. I know nobody gives a shit about me and my favorite team, but I don't care that you don't care. This trade upsets me. Last week I was curious if the Blazers would hit the reset button and look to move some of their long term contracts and it appears the answer to that question is yes. I have to be honest, I feel like they could have done better. I can't say for sure because I don't know what other teams offered, but that package feels a little light. They essentially traded Gary Trent Jr (who is good), for Eric Bledsoe. I'd love to hear Dame's thoughts on that.

I guess we have to see what other moves they make with some of their other assets, because I'm not sure how exactly this helps long term other than just getting off future money. There's also this

From the Clippers side, a great move by them. We learned last night from Ty Lue that Kawhi probably isn't coming back, the jury is still out on Paul George, but they obviously are not punting on the season. Those are two legit pieces that will help them right away. Norm Powell is legit. He has good size, is one of the best spot up shooters currently in the league, and then you have a nice versatile 3/4 guy in Covington who can defend and knock down threes. They trail MIN by just 1 game for the 7th seed, and the Nuggets by just 2 games for the 6th. The Mavs are only 3 up from 5th. There is still a chance for them to get out of the play in and this move I imagine increases their odds. If George comes back, great. If not, you get to next season with Kawhi and George back in the lineup, well that's certainly a pretty legit roster on paper.

I will say, this does make the Clippers a little thin at point guard outside of Reggie Jackson, so maybe this is now a Dennis Schroder destination. That'd be swell. I'm honestly still a little shocked this is what the Blazers took back for one of their better players who was locked up long term, but that's what makes the trade deadline so unpredictable. If you said on Twitter that Powell would be moved for Eric Bledsoe and scraps, people would tell you that you were a moron who doesn't know the value of NBA players. The reality is, none of us do. They didn't even have to give a 1st round pick!

All I know is now that we are officially off and running, I need the next Woj/Shams bomb immediately. Give it to us. Let's get nuts
