While We Were Watching Football, US Soccer Had Its Worst Case Scenario Come True And Is Officially Facing A Disaster

This isn't an overreaction, we're facing a complete disaster. Why? Simple. We chased getting a point in Canada - something I was fine with - only to lose AND suffer two injures.

Don't love that! Chris Richards seriously injured after starting the last two matches. Means we're likely going to see Antonee Robinson, Miles Robinson, Walker Zimmerman and Sergino Dest going forward? At least that's my guess. Also our back-4 is probably the weakest in terms of depth so losing a guy there is a dagger. Then there's Tyler Adams. Our biggest strength? That midfield. I love the Musah-Adams-McKennie trio. Adams is one of our two leaders along with Pulisic. He's so key in what we do and allows McKennie and Musah to play up while he can play more of a defensive mid.

So what does this mean and why am I freaking out? Because it comes down to two matches. We have two left at home that are must win, the first one being Wednesday. Here's the current table.

Reminder that the top-3 auto qualify for the World Cup, 4th place goes to a playoff. Wednesday we play Honduras in Minnesota while Panama goes to Mexico. We need three points. We need to play all of our regular starting 11 and go get a win. We also need to be cheering HARD for Mexico. We can't let Panama get an extra point. We need to get up 4 with 3 to go, especially since the last window we go to Costa Rica and Mexico. The other game? A home match vs Panama. It doesn't matter if we finish 1st or 3rd. There are no bonus points. Just finish top 3. It's also worth mentioning, Panama's next match after Wednesday is hosting Honduras. So it's likely going to come down to beating them at home. We simply can't rely on having to get a result at Costa Rica.

So here we are again. This is the most talented group we've had arguably ever. Gregg can't fuck it up. He needs to prove he can actually win when it matters in World Cup Qualifying. 4 matches, 2 at home. I can't watch another World Cup without us. Don't fuck it up, Gregg.
