Does This Look Like The Face Of The Man George McCaskey Hand Picked To Save The Chicago Bears?

Congrats to Ryan Poles on winning the job. Sounds like everyone has nice things to say which is a good thing. We'll have plenty out tomorrow on Red Line Radio and I know Ed is doing his homework on the guy. Lots of people are excited and that's good news because we're not really excited about anything. He's allegedly the next big up-and-coming executive which sounds familiar but is refreshing nonetheless. Most importantly, we're finally in the clubhouse with a GM and can move forward on the head coaching search. The rumors of Jim Caldwell are enough to make me crash a car on purpose so let's hope and pray for another alternative.

In related news, I'm sure so many people are delighted to know that George picking him up last night worked. Chief blogged it this morning:

Meanwhile I'm over here just evading shrapnel from the peanut gallery because I find it to be an embarrassing move to make the new GM fly commercial so George can drive him up to Lake Forest personally. Sure it's a warm gesture but I want my owner preoccupied with things like running a $10B franchise and not printing off mapquest directions to the northwest side. I want him chartering a private jet and acting like he's an NFL owner. It's a small sliver but effective look into the mind of a guy that works out at the Vernon Hills Lifetime Fitness and enjoys a good timeshare on the gulf coast of the Florida Panhandle.

If that works for you guys, great. But I'm over the nice guy stuff. It's all people talked about with Nagy and Pace as we watched the Bears collapse under their leadership. It's the sole reason Ted Phillips has kept a job for 23+ years despite just 3 playoff wins. It's all we talk about with the Bears - being good and nice. Meanwhile Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs and Olin Kreutz and all the guys that actually make you proud to be a Bears fan - those guys don't get the nice guy treatment for a second. It's very confusing.

The best solution is that this guy turns out to be the best GM of all time. That would make all of this seem insignificant in the long run and that's all we can hope for, provided they don't hire Jim Caldwell. This is a developing story.
