Way To Stay Relevant Baseball: MLB Network Will Broadcast The HoF Election Results With A FOUR-HOUR Announcement Show On Tuesday

Four-hours? A four-hour show on the candidates elected into Cooperstown? Is this what you think baseball fans want? This is an awful idea, who thinks a four-hour show is the right move here? Obviously you don't have to watch it all, and I won't, but what is the deal with drawing everything out so much? We saw it before with the March Madness brackets, we've seen it with sports pregame shows that are a billion hours long and talk about the same thing over and over, why are we stretching everything out? We live in a world where we want instant results and satisfaction, if I see a TikTok that is over 30 seconds I skip it, I don't have time for that. No one actually wants four-hours of the talking baseball heads breaking down why they didn't vote for Barry Bonds or why they voted for Tim Hudson to keep him on the ballot. This is just feeding into the narrative that MLB writers and HoF voters are the most self absorbed people in the world. Four god damn hours of Tom Verducci with tears in his eyes explaining why it was so hard for him to figure out if he should vote for Jimmy Rollins.

Me, personally? I'd rather they use that four-hours and have the players association and owners try and fix the CBA so we can actually get a normal season, but thats just me. People already bang on and complain about baseball being long and boring, this is just going to add to the narrative. It's not bad enough that Red Sox - Yankees always creeps over four-hours, but now they throw this in our face. Just tell us that David Ortiz, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are going into Cooperstown and let us sit on Twitter and watch Bonds highlights.

This is just another boneheaded by baseball, Manfred continues to be an idiot. And god forbid anyone at the Network say anything bad about this four-hour show, they'll probably get canned like Ken Rosenthal. It looks like David Ortiz will get in on the first ballot, but what on earth would they have done if they didn't have anyone elected? Just a roundtable for four-hours of talking heads saying nothing? Think of the pace-of-play, Rob! And it's not like they're making us wait the entire four-hours, they're going to announce the results in the middle. Who in their right mind is going to hang on for the extra two-hours? I can't imagine the ratings on this will be great, but Manfred will think it's a genius idea. So yet again, way to stay relevant baseball, you did it again! I hope the results leak just to rain on Manfred's parade even more.
