The New Riddler Is Based On The Zodiac Killer

New photos of Paul Dano and Colin Farrell as The Riddler and The Penguin from Matt Reeves' new Batman movie were released this week, much to the internet's enjoyment, and while Farrell's Oswald Cobblepot is an extremely comic-faithful depiction of the character....

….they went in a much different direction for Paul Dano's Riddler, and traded in the kelly green spandex we're all used to for a military jacket and mask inspired by the god damn Zodiac Killer!

They really went for it, too - there's no hiding that glasses-outside-the-mask/crosshair on the clothes inspiration! It's creepy as fuck - just totally unsettling - and in my opinion, it's absolutely gonna work for 'The Batman'….

Everything we've seen outta this movie makes it look like Batman meets 'Se7en' (which I absolutely love), and if we're gonna see the detective story we've always wanted to see outta the Caped Crusader on the big screen, turning The Riddler into a Zodiac Killer-inspired homicidal freak set loose on Gotham sounds like the coolest shit ever. It makes so much sense, too, character-wise - it's not just the over-the-top edgelord shit Zack Snyder was putting in his movies like Joker offering to suck Batman off, or whatever that was.

Don't sleep on Colin Farrell's Penguin, either; he looks like a Tony Soprano version of Cobblepot from the trailers, and they're already developing an HBO Max series for the character described as a 'Scarface-like' look at his rise to the top of the mob in Gotham City….

….I think he could sneaky steal the show in 'The Batman' depending on how much screen time he winds up getting.

I truly can't wait for this movie tho - it's definitely the most I've anticipated something like this in a while. I think Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson are gonna knock it out of the park and give us the best Batman since 'The Dark Knight' - even Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman is gonna rule….
