Connor McCaffery Got On Twitter After Losing To Wisconsin And Immediately Called Out The Big 10 Refs For 'Continuing To Fall For Shit'
A couple of things here. Connor McCaffery complaining about this immediately after losing a game that wasn't all that close and fouling out in 15 minutes is a bold move. On the other hand he's also completely right. This is a garbage play by Brad Davison - not surprising. Even more it's a shitty call - less surprising. This is something that every level of basketball is trying to take out of the game. It's now an offensive foul to do this because it risks ankle injuries and just dirty shit. The ref is staring right at this, the guy behind the play makes the call. How do you miss it? Besides being bad at your job, how do you miss it? This is as clear of a leg kick I've seen since that fucking asshat Reggie Miller was running around.
I also respect Connor flat out calling the refs embarrassing. He didn't hold back, wonder where he gets that from?
I will stand with nearly any person that calls out refs. It's bullshit that they can make terrible calls like this and just go without questioning. We make the players answer questions from everyone and anyone and those same people lose their mind if they don't get an answer. We make coaches answer questions. Hell even AD's answer questions. Why not refs? Why can't they explain their actions? They get out without any punishment besides a 'grade' that we don't really ever find out. It makes no sense. College basketball refs more than arguably any other official makes a larger impact on the game. They can't figure out the block vs charge. They love giving technicals for the slightest thing and benching players. We know them by name. That's not a good thing.
And to be honest, this call wouldn't have mattered. Iowa still can't defend. Keegan Murray is awesome offensively and one of the breakout stars. But they can't defend. Wisconsin was the better team and wins that game nearly every time. Johnny Davis is the NPOY favorite for a reason. That said, if you want to call out refs I'm going to get excited. Players should have every right to call out refs if they want to be part of the game.
