Apparently Baker Mayfield and Kevin Stefanski Have So Many Issues That Baker May Ask The Browns For A Trade

Bombshell #1:

Mayfield’s issues with Stefanski bubbled below the surface most of the season, with Mayfield feeling like Stefanski’s playcalling didn’t always put him in position to succeed or play to his strengths, sources told cleveland.com.

Bombshell #2:

If Mayfield doesn’t get reassurance that things will change next season, he’ll consider asking to be traded.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Let me try and compose myself.

This is too funny. Baker feels that HE was put in bad positions this year? Buddy, I'm not saying Kevin Stefanski should've repeated as Coach of the Year this season, but he also hasn't thrown 56 interceptions since 2018, which is by far the most by a QB since you were drafted. YOU put the Browns in bad positions this year, not the other way around.

And in what world is Baker Mayfield asking for a trade out of Cleveland? Where else is he going to go be the starting QB? He's 29-30 as a starter in the NFL, surrounded by some of the top talent in the league. For reference, Mitchell Tribusky is 29-21 as a starter. No one is knocking on the door to get Baker. And if a team really is interested in trading for him, I've got a Nigerian prince who would like to share a large sum of money with them if they can just send me a small fee first. I mean, was there a nationwide blackout during Monday night's game vs the Steelers? Or was everyone too busy eating their Christmas Day ham to watch him throw 4 picks against the Packers? Guys, Baker Mayfield was AWFUL this year. There's no other opinion you can have on that matter. Sure, you can have the opinion that the got hurt in Week 2 and should've had surgery, and when he comes back healthy you're excited to see more of the 2020 Baker Mayfield. But you cannot dispute that he cost the Browns both games and the playoffs this year. And you cannot say that other teams are lining up to trade for this guy. Who is he going to be asked to be traded to? The Arena Football League?

The three names mentioned in the article that we could trade for are Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Once again, silly. None of those teams are trading for Baker Mayfield straight up, and the Browns would be INSANE to give up draft picks AND Baker to get one of them. They're not elite. Do they really get us any closer to our goal? No, that's just not going to happen. It's more likely that the Browns give up Baker for late round picks to get him outta here because they have someone else that they want to lead this team to the Super Bowl.

Bottom line: the Browns best option is to lure Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers to this dumpster fire (mostly because of the QB, though). Next would be to play Baker for the 5th year of his contract at $18 million this year. See if his injury really was the problem. If it was and we start 7-2 next season, okay let's talk extension. If it wasn't, then we part ways. But to think that the Browns are going to send this below average QB and draft picks to another team for their below average quarterback is crazy.

And to think that HE is going to ask for this trade is even crazier. Could you imagine? Forcing his way out of the only team that might want him, thinking he's the missing piece somewhere else. Yeah, the Vikings are just a Baker Mayfield away from the Super Bowl.
