Syracuse Finally Stinks And This Insane Stat Proves It

I know I've been screaming that Syracuse stinks for years yet they sneak into the NCAA Tournament and make the second weekend. It's infuriating. But this? .500 for the first time in 46 years? Yikes. That's bad, not exactly shocking, but bad. But at least they did this.

Well I shouldn't say that as a positive. I don't want my pals to be facing brutal loss after brutal loss. An insane beat for a weird game. Syracuse blew a massive lead ... again. They gave up 58 points in the second half. That seems nearly impossible. But this is who Syracuse is. They are reliant on making jumpers. They can't really defend because they don't have those big athletic wings on top of the zone forcing Boeheim to run a 2-3, 1-3-1 hybrid type. It's what happens when you miss on big recruits and haven't really had THAT guy for a few years. Yeah, Buddy is nice but he's not THAT guy. Not when you look at what Cuse had in years past.

There's no real solution. Boeheim is clearly at the end of his career but who is Syracuse getting? It's a weird job. It's not in the Big East anymore which is actually a con for them. We've never seen Syracuse go through a coaching search since Boeheim has been there since the Nixon era. He's not all of a sudden going to start landing massive recruits. The biggest ones he landed, never came on campus - Darius Bazley, Dior Johnson, etc. He's not going to change his coaching strategy.

46 years was a good run.
