A Chicago Writer With a Vote For The NFL's MVP Award Says He Refuses To Vote For Aaron Rodgers Because He's a "Bad Guy" and "The Biggest Jerk In The League"

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the favorite to win the league’s MVP award. But one voter has already ruled out Rodgers for consideration.

That voter is Hub Arkush, who is one of the 50 members of the media the Associated Press gives a vote for the MVP award that the NFL treats as its official MVP and awards at the annual NFL Honors event. Arkush called Rodgers a “jerk” and a “bad guy” and said today on 670 The Score in Chicago that Rodgers won’t have his vote.

Here we go! You just knew there were going to be a few writers who would refuse to vote for Aaron Rodgers as MVP of this season. It of course begins with a Chicago reporter by the name of Hub Arkush. He believes Rodgers is a bad guy and a jerk. No MVP for that kind of person in this Hub guy's world. Clearly no bias there. Always makes me laugh when an adult calls another adult a jerk.

The weirdest thing about this dude's reasoning is a lot of it has to to do with the way 12 handled the offseason. He thinks he was mean to the team and wasn't there with them at the start of training camp. That's what we're talking about right now. That's part of the rationale for why Rodgers can't possibly be the MVP. I mean what are we doing here?

And yes, Rodgers' vaccine takes and everything he said this season were and are extremely controversial. I don't agree with them, but should any of that matter or factor in when deciding who the most valuable player in the league is? Absolutely not. It's a fucking sports award, not the Nobel Peace Prize. He didn't murder someone in cold blood. He held out to get his way with the front office and he spoke his mind about an extremely hot topic. People disagreed with him. You know what? People disagree with other people all the fucking time. It's part of everyday life. You know what Rodgers also did? Played football at an MVP caliber level all season long.

Also how about this tweet of Arkush's from 2019.

"Why can't fans separate actual analysis from from fanboy talk?" Not sure Hub, you tell me.

This doofus also brings up the Chiefs game where Rodgers had to sit out with covid

I do think he hurt his team on the field by the way he acted off the field. They’re gonna get the No. 1 seed anyway, but what if the difference had come down to the Chiefs game, where he lied about being vaccinated, and they ended up getting beat?”

If anything that game made Rodgers even more the MVP of the league. Just watching Jordan Love struggle to move the Packers into the end zone and only put up 7 points made it painfully obvious how desperately they need him and what he does for this football team. That game was so hard to watch that any plans of Love being the guy moving forward were likely torn up, put through a shredder, and then set on fire.

There are 50 writers who vote for the most valuable player in the league. That's the task at hand. You're not voting for humanitarians. You're not voting for the guy you want to date your daughter. No, who played football the best and elevated their team the most? That's it. No one is asking you to use your judgement of a guy's character with this vote. You see the same bullshit when it comes to baseball writers and their hall of fame votes. The egos that go into that vote are asinine. Were the guy's baseball stats some of the best in the history of the game? Yes? Then vote him in, stop thinking if he was a good enough guy in your heart. No one gives a shit.

For the record Rodgers did donate a million fucking dollars to small businesses in his hometown, not to mention the Barstool Fund as well. Real bad guy. The fucking worst, right Hub? (I hate that this guy's name is so close to mine)

Rodgers has 35 passing touchdowns and only 4 interceptions with another game to go (he'll probably play a quarter on Sunday). I like to look at the last stretch of games in the season to see who separates themselves from the pack. Rodgers threw 18 touchdowns, zero interceptions, and had a completion percentage of 71.56. The Packers went 5-1 in that stretch that saw them clinch the NFC North and the 1 seed in the conference. He makes plays on the regular that seem fake. Here are a few that I dug up.

Don't forget about the game winning drive against the Niners with just 37 seconds left and no timeouts.

Oh and don't forget about this moment. Can't imagine it was one of Arkush's favorites.

Jonathan Taylor had an outstanding season and honestly if he won the award I really wouldn't have a problem with it even if I think Rodgers deserves it. But if he wins the award because writers eliminate Rodgers for his off the field stuff then that's where I get pissed off. Just vote for the best player.

At the end of the day the award means dick to Rodgers. He wants his second Lombardi more than anything. After all the bullshit that's happened this year there would be no better ending than him on the stage hoisting that bad boy up to the sky.

P.S.  Real shame Dan is trying to take this from Aaron. Not a very football guy move if you ask me.
