Johnny Davis Simply Keeps Dragging Wisconsin To Wins And All Of A Sudden Is The Best Player In College Hoops

None of this makes sense. I mean, sure, Johnny Davis is a good player, that's not *shocking.* What is shocking is he's all of a sudden the best player in college hoops. The race for NPOY is pretty open with guys not living up to the hype, delays in games, whatever. But Johnny Davis has now dropped over 30 points against Houston and Purdue. Pretty fucking good on that part alone. More impressive is the fact that Wisconsin just keeps letting him cook. The swing offense is still there and all that, but for what seems like the first time since Dekker/Kaminsky, Wisconsin has a guy they can just give the ball to and say please bail our ass out. That's what Johnny Davis is doing. That's what he did tonight in a pretty huge upset. That line was 12.5 and you're going to Purdue.

We're going to talk about Purdue in a separate blog because it's time we have an honest conversation about them. But this is about Johnny Davis because what he's doing is ridiculous. And yeah, it's worth talking about if this can be sustained. The dude is out here scoring 35% of Wisconsin's points and beating top-5 teams on the road and neutral courts. That can be something to watch and discussed in terms of what you think of Wisconsin, but it's why I think (and now the majority too) would go Johnny Davis for NPOY right now. He's dragging this team to wins. They did it tonight despite having their two bigs foul out trying to guard Zach Edey. Speaking of which, I just want to show this play because it was AWESOME.

But Wisconsin won because Davis outplayed Jaden Ivey. They won because Davis was creating shots for himself and then getting Purdue lost on screens. It's 2022 and Wisconsin currently has the best player in college basketball. I don't get it, but it's true.
