Caleb Williams Enters the Transfer Portal, But Says Returning to Oklahoma Is Sill an Option

After much speculation following the departure of Lincoln Riley to USC, Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams has announced he's entering the transfer portal. He did make it a point to mention in his announcement that returning to OU was still an "definitely an option," though.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say Williams will be the most sought-after player in the transfer portal era. He may very well enter 2022 as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and any current Top 25-ish school that lands him probably becomes a Playoff contender overnight. He threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns and didn't eben start until halfway through the season.

Oklahoma released a statement in response to Williams's announcement essentially re-recruiting its own quarterback to stay. That's college football in 2022.

If Williams does end up leaving Norman, though, the obvious destination is reuniting with Riley in Los Angeles. I don't know how much Williams necessarily cares about the feelings of Oklahoma fans given he's entered the portal, but one would imagine that move would go over about as well as a fart in church.

In terms of the most fun destination Williams could choose, I think I speak for everyone when I say we want to see him play for Lane Kiffin. There is not a total for yards or touchdowns for next season you could set in which I'd take the under. It would be amazing to watch.

We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose. But it appears one of the best quarterbacks in college football could have a new home next season.
