We Officially Have Our First Bowl Team to Back Out After a COVID Outbreak

COVID is back more than Michael Jordan in 1995, folks. After an outbreak within the Texas A&M program, the Aggies won't play in the Gator Bowl against Wake Forest. It was originally reported that a replacement could only come from another bowl game impacted by COVID, but it seems the Gator Bowl is exhausting every option to find a second team.

We made it through this entire season pretty scot-free, honestly, but it seems Omicron has put us back in 2020. Georgia has its quarterback room on pins and needles after J.T. Daniels tested positive for COVID, Alabama assistants Bill O'Brien and Doug Marrone have it and now Texas A&M doesn't have enough players to play in its bowl game. This sucks.

And if we're being honest with ourselves, I sincerely doubt the Gator Bowl will be the last game impacted. At the rate things are going right now, I would not be surprised if a handful of bowl games don't end up being played. I very much hope I'm wrong.

In the meantime, however, I'm going to watch Missouri-Army tonight and pretend everything is fine and there will be absolutely no further interruptions to bowl season, particularly the College Football Playoff. Everythingois going to go off without a hitch!
