The ACC Stinks At Basketball This Year But At Least They Are Smart Enough To Rescind Their Forfeit Rule

Alright a day after complaining about the forfeit rules in college basketball, we're finally seeing some change. 

Again, the rule was put in place to try and get everyone vaccinated and keep the season moving along. Now that we're seeing teams that are vaccinated get positive cases it makes no sense to have a forfeit rule. It was just making everything complicated where you have teams with a record of 9-1 but 0-2 in conference play. The goal always should have been to reschedule conference games since they matter for conference tournament seeding, etc. The Big 12 and Big West also did the same. 

Now I know I've been ragging on the ACC, but it's because it's true. It's honestly shocking how bad the ACC is. I'm 34 years old and have been watching this sport as long as I can remember. I never would have expected the ACC to be argued about in terms of being better or not than the WCC. Think about that sentence for a moment and realize how outrageous it is. Yes, Duke is a top-10 team. Other than that? Uhh, well, they have teams. Virginia Tech is the only other team in the top-35 on KenPom with UNC at 36. They don't have anyone else ranked. KenPom currently has it ranked as the 5th best conference, a good ways back of 4th place Big East. 

I get that there still can be some weird games and teams can say they have less than 7 guys due to contact tracing, etc. But teams want to play games. They want the chance to get a quality win or pad their resume. Also let's be honest. We want one game where we get a Hoosiers scenario. 

Or an Alabama vs Minnesota situation. 

But me personally? I want to see one game where a team has one coach and he gets ejected. Let the players figure out subs and timeouts. Credit where it's due. The ACC, Big 12 and Big West made smart decisions today.
