The 2022 National Signing Day All-Name Team

It's that time of year again, folks. Lost in all the craziness of Travis Hunter flipping from Florida State to Jackson State is what National Signing Day is really about: the All-Name Team.

This is the day every year we get introduced to some of the best names from 18 years ago all across the country. For all the stories of fans flipping out when a kid goes somewhere other than where they want him to play college football, this is a moment to celebrate what's beautiful about National Signing Day.

Let's meet the members of the 2022 All-Name Team:

Kobe Savage, Kansas State DB

Kobe Savage is precisely the guy you do not want lurking in the defensive backfield when you have to run a route over the middle. He's going to fuck you up, no question about it.

Marquarius "Squirrel" White, Tennessee WR

Now this is what I'm talking about. I don't even know which of his names is better. Marquarius White and Squirrel White would both make this team individually, but this guy is the rare 2-in-1. Proud to have him as a Volunteer.

Gunner Stockton, Georgia QB

The kid who broke Trevor Lawrence's Georgia state record for passing touchdowns and Deshaun Watson's record for total touchdowns is headed to UGA and he has possibly the best quarterback name of all-time. There's nobody you'd rather have under center tossing the football around the yard than a Gunner.

Tater Trzpuc, UAB OL

Absolutely love the name, but I do have one complaint: 6'4", 260 pounds isn't big enough to be Tater. At his height, you have to be at least 300 pounds to be Tater. Being from Smith Station, Alabama does lend a bit of credence to Nathaniel's case, but I would still prefer a bigger boy.

You take a Tater wherever you can find one, though.

Octavian Smith Jr., Maryland ATH

You can just tell Octavian has that swagger about him. He walks onto the football field and plays up to his name.

He's the second in a line of Octavians, too. You better live up to your father's name when it's something that cool and it certainly appears he has.

Damani Dent, Michigan DB

I love a good alliterative name and they don't come much better than Damani Dent. That just sounds like a guy whose film you'd tell your son to watch to see his technique. That's the name of an NFL first rounder.

Decoldest Crawford, Uncommitted WR

The crown jewel of the 2022 All-Name Team.

Decoldest Crawford has been in our lives for quite some time now, but it's finally his time to step onto the college stage. Crawford had been committed to LSU for some time, but recently backed off his commitment and seems poised to potentially end up at Nebraska. Wherever he goes, Decoldest has been the captain of the 2022 All-Name Team for several years already.
