Gary Payton was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. Gary II is a perfectly fine player and won a G League Defensive Player of the Year award. But I don't think we'll ever see Gary Payton II in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
That's totally fine though. Because there's another Hall he belongs in. And quite honestly, I think this one is a little more prestigious. Because Gary Payton II belongs in the Dude Hall of Fame. A shrine to dudes who just get it. You could have all the athletic talent in the world but still be a shitty dude. But Gary Payton II gets it.
First of all, it's worth noting that this was a road game for the Golden State Warriors last night in Indiana. So chances are he knocked over the adult beverage of a fan who was rooting against him. It takes a serious dude to be able to look past their rooting allegiances and still offer to rectify this situation.

But even if this were a home game and Gary Payton II was helping out some Warriors fans, that's a tall order. He's currently on a 1-year deal worth $1.939M. That's not exactly chump change. But it's also not Steph Curry making $45.78M this season. Have you ever seen the beer prices at concession stands these days? Astronomical. Don't even bother asking for change if you're paying with anything less than a 20. It's absurd how much they price gouge at these games. So it's not just replacing a Truly.
