A Brazilian Politician Kept Calling His Rival A 'Scoundrel' Online, So They Did The Only Reasonable Thing ... A 3-Round MMA Fight

I mean, this is Rough n Rowdy. This is two people who got mad about something online and decided to settle it by throwing haymakers for three rounds. Good luck convincing me otherwise. Also hilarious to think people in Brazil caught wind of Rough n Rowdy and went, hey, we need that. Just with politicians. That said, I approve of this. We need more of it. You can't just go by calling your rival a scoundrel. (h/t TMZ)

39-year-old Simao Peixoto, mayor of Borba, Brazil ... participated in a 3-round slugfest with political rival, 45-year-old Erineu Alvas Da Silva, a former councilor in the area.

Da Silva had been critical of the mayor online, calling him a "scoundrel" (fightin' words!), so the politician accepted the fight ... which went down under MMA rules.

Scoundrel is such a great insult too. We gotta bring that back. It's not nearly used enough and I'm sure in Brazil as a politician it's one of the worst things you can be called. Just a hunch based on this reaction. This is 'It's About Respect' part 2. You think you can just call people shit online without an MMA fight coming your way in Brazil? Good luck. Be lucky that's all that happened.

I don't care about political debates. Just talking over each other, yelling about things that never happen, yada, yada, yada. I do care about politicians settling their debates MMA style. Can't wait for 50 years from now when this becomes a Broadway musical to rival Hamilton.

I love the explanation of why the mayor didn't want to fight at first but ultimately agreed.

Peixoto ended up winning the fight -- which was streamed by his staff -- by decision, according to the Daily Mail … despite eating a flurry of heavy leg kicks which clearly hurt the mayor in the first round.

Before the fight, the mayor said this while agreeing to lace up the gloves.

"I'm not a street fighter … I'm the mayor of the municipality of Borba."

Peixoto continued … "But if he really wants to fight … we're ready to fight … I've always been a winner."

Fuck it, I don't want to fight but I'm a winner so I'll see you in a week. Love it. We need more people like that. You challenge me to a fight? No. I challenge you to a fight! Oh and I'm not a fighter, I'm a mayor. But I'm a winner. That's exactly how you should respond to someone calling you a scoundrel. I couldn't imagine if this Da Silva fella called him an Argentina soccer fan.

Good luck matching this though:
