We Have MAYHEM To End The Alabama/Houston Game - Refusing To Let Refs Leave The Court And A Controversial No Call

Uhh holy shit what an insane ending. Let's get into the no call. I'm cool with it. That shot wasn't going in, it looks to be off the rim. But how do the refs just run away? At least explain to Houston and Kelvin Sampson that 1) you can't review the call because you didn't call goaltending and 2) that it wasn't a goaltend because it was off the rim, etc. You owe a team that much, especially when you called a foul on nearly every possession. Just take 5 seconds and say hey this is the deal. Shit, you stop games to talk to coaches all the time after an unnecessary foul call. Yeah, yeah, Sampson shouldn't grab a ref, but you're not going to see me feeling bad for refs. I don't mind a coach standing up for his team.

It also led to one of the funniest images in a long time:

Nate Oats is the perfect amount of asshole. He's not afraid to stir the pot and he's been that way since Buffalo. Won me over when he was there and not afraid to take shots at Arizona or Coach K or anyone. Just standing there with that grin as he watches Houston lose their shit. It was an unbelievable game too. Back and forth, each team hitting major shots and Houston just killing Alabama on the offensive glass.

Now here's a valid argument:

Again, my thought process on review is simple. You should be able to review anything, but you get 30 seconds max. If you can't make a ruling in 30 seconds whatever the original call is stands. You can tell if it's clear in 30 seconds. Imagine if this was a clear goaltend and not called? You can't review it because you didn't call it. That makes no sense.

What an insane day in the sport.
