Charles Oliveira Makes Dustin Poirier Tap Out In His First Title Defense

ANNNNND STILL! Put some respect on Charles Oliveira's name!

What an unreal night of fights, culminating in back-to-back upsets in our UFC Championship fights. This main event between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier absolutely lived up to all of the hype behind it, as well, beginning with one of the rounds of the year....

Charles Oliveira took all of Poirier's best shots, got dropped, and still pushed forward every step of the way, disproving any silly narrative about him being a "quitter" yet again. In the second round, Oliveira took Dustin down and smeshed him so brutally he might've 10-8'd him, keeping him on his back for almost the entire five minutes....

At the start of the third round, Oliveira jumped onto Poirier's back (literally like a backpack) and sunk in that signature standing rear-naked choke of his leading to the tap….

I'll admit it - I underestimated the fuck outta Charles Oliveira tonight. Don't get me wrong, I've always respected him as a fighter, but I just thought Poirier was levels above him. I thought this was gonna be a DOMINANT fight, completely one-sided until The Diamond put Oliveira out cold early….and I couldn't have been more wrong. It's time to start respecting Charles Oliveira and his resume.

After the fight, Poirier offered up $20k to the charity of Charles' choosing, just proving what kinda guy he is yet again….

Oh, and speaking of that resume - Oliveira just bought himself a ticket to fight Justin Gaethje with this win, so have fun with that!
