After Getting Destroyed By Over 30 Points, The Timberwolves Spent Their Postgame Interviews Doing Nothing But Shitting On Rudy Gobert

Listen, I am far from a Rudy Gobert apologist. Pretty much everyone outside of the state of Utah hates the guy for one reason or another. Jazz fans can debate about that stuff all they want. What I'm interested though is what happened last night. You see the Jazz went into Minnesota and whooped that ass like you read about

They are destroying teams right now and just set an NBA record for consecutive games while making at least 20 3PM.

While the result isn't that surprising, what happened after the game from the Wolves players was a little odd. They took last night as an opportunity to basically trash Rudy Gobert. An interesting choice because Gobert finished with 13/10 on 4-4 shooting and was a +25 in his minutes. Even still, they tried to make it seem like Gobert is actually a trash defender. People LOVE trying to make it seem like Gobert isn't an elite defender which I always found strange. It's OK to not like the Jazz, but you can still use your brain.

First there was Anthony Edwards, who is always great for a postgame quote

On one hand, you love the confidence of a young player. That's all fine and good, but it's also a little misleading. Edwards is 3-12 in his career while being defended by Rudy Gobert. It's not like he has all this success and last night was just some sort of fluke. While it's great that he's not afraid to attack Gobert, the production doesn't exactly back up what he's trying to suggest.

Then there was Pat Beverley who obviously isn't shy when it comes to talking shit

My question to Pat Bev would be from a scheme perspective, why would the Jazz prefer Gobert hang out 30 ft from the rim to guard KAT rather than protect the rim where he's clearly elite? Wouldn't that do more harm than good? Also, a weird time for Pat Bev to talk about someone else's defense when he himself couldn't handle Donovan Mitchell in this game.

Again, I'm not even someone who thinks Gobert is some sort of generational defender or whatever the hell it is Jazz fans say when stuff like this triggers them. I'm just wondering why after a game you just got your ass whooped and Rudy Gobert was effective you choose that moment to talk shit. I could understand if the Wolves won and they got whatever they wanted against Gobert, but the exact opposite happened. In terms of guarding KAT, he finished with just 2 points in 9 possessions against Gobert, so it's not like he was cooking Gobert whenever he had the chance and the Jazz had to move him off. They stuck to their scheme and it worked.

Like I said, as a Wolves fan you love that Ant isn't afraid. That's a quality you love to see from your young franchise cornerstone player. Pat Bev gives you a little more of an eye roll because he loves to talk shit even if he can't back it up. Russell Westbrook said it best

I just don't get what the big deal is with acknowledging that Gobert is actually pretty damn good at defense. It's not going to be the end of the world. The impacts shots through blocks and honestly just contesting. Watch any Jazz game and you'll see your favorite player think twice when they get into the paint. They are thinking about Gobert. It messes them up frequently and is why the Jazz are among the elite defensive teams in the league year in and year out.

It pains to me even have to stick up for anything Jazz related, but maybe it's not the best idea to start throwing shade the same night you got blown the fuck out on your home floor. You just come off salty if we're being honest.
