Ryan Reynolds And Rob McElhenney Released A Promo Teasing Their 'Welcome To Wrexham' Show The Only Way They Possibly Could
Oh fuck yeah. The moment Rob and Ryan Reynolds took over as owners of Wrexham they talked about how they wanted to do a documentary series/show on the team. Well, here it is. It's going to be on FXX starting some time in 2022. But this is about the tease. It's perfect. They had to tie in It's Always Sunny somehow and they did it perfectly. The fake crew in Wales making the shut up bird line.
It's still insane to me that Van Wilder and Mac own a soccer team. I love it. Remember, Wrexham - a Welsh soccer club - was actually owned by fans. Those fan owners were the ones who had to vote on letting Mac and Reynolds take over the club. Absolute no-brainer. I even love the tagline for the show. (h/t Uproxx)
From Hollywood to Wales, the pitch to the locker room, the front office to the pub, Welcome to Wrexham will track Rob and Ryan’s crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that could use it.
Yeah sign me up. I'm curious as hell to see how it all worked out. Two North American celebrities buying a small time but historic Welsh soccer club? It makes no sense! Yet here they are beloved by the entire fanbase. Everyone is cheering for them to succeed. Shit, I'd love to see them get promoted a few times. Give me a real life Ted Lasso situation. I want to see the struggles, I want to see the good times. I'm a sucker for a good sports show/documentary and I expect nothing else here. All I know is this was the only way they could have cut a promo.
