Yesterday Proved Once Again That It's Complete Bullshit For Alabama To Be This Good At Basketball

Remember when it was a down year for Alabama all because they lost one game on the road at Texas A&M? Well now they are a top-2 team in the college football playoff and won another SEC title. Shocking, I know. 

Fast forward to 8pm and we get Alabama in Seattle against Gonzaga. Okay, cool. Good game, right? NOPE. 

Alabama dominated that game. Gonzaga made it close for a little, but Bama was in control. It leads me to ask one thing. What the fuck man? Alabama can't be this good at basketball. You're not allowed to have a dynasty in college football and then come in to the college hoops season and be a top-10 team. You can't let Alabama fans be this spoiled. You get to dominate one sport at the expense of the other. Rules are rules damnit! 

Crazy thing is Alabama lost John Petty, Herb Jones, Josh Primo, Alex Reese and Jordan Bruner from last year's team. Pretty much the core of that group. No problem. Jahvon Quinerly takes a jump. In comes JD Davison and Charles Bediako as impact freshmen. Keon Ellis looks the part. And then there's Jaden Shackelford. He's putting up 19 and 7 per game, including 28 yesterday. He looks like the star of this group after averaging 14 per game last year. 

It all goes back to the hiring of Nate Oats. You can point to him and Muss as two of the best hires over the last couple of years and even more so when you look at the landscape of college basketball right now. Maryland could have made a run at Oats, he has no reason to leave now. BC could have made a run at him if he was still at Buffalo. Cincinnati could have came calling. Marquette would have made a ton of sense for Oats. All these names that are big enough to draw him away from Buffalo, but instead it was Alabama. All he's done since he's been there? Went 16-15 in year 1 to 26-7 and a 2 seed last year to looking the part again this year. He brought this uptempo style and bringing in top recruits because of it. ,He helped turn Josh Primo into a first round pick.

Throw a dart after that to figure out the rest of the top-10. No, I don't think Gonzaga is overrated because they lost to Duke and Alabama on a neutral court. It just continued to prove there's no elite team like we had last year with Baylor and Gonzaga. We aren't going to get a 'team x vs the field' question. 

All I know is if Saban is at Bama, they need to be a .500 team in basketball. They can't be out here winning Heisman Trophies, sending dudes in the NBA lottery and be top-10 in both sports. It's just not allowed.
