Here Is The Type Of Apartment You Can Get In Tokyo For $1/Month In Rent

"One of the keys is to make good use of the vertical space," the company said on its website. "By capturing the room three-dimensionally, new possibilities open up in a limited space."

Tokyo is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, driving a trend for micro apartments. It is home to just over 14 million people, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Ikea is promoting its tiny home with the help of a shark named Blahaj, who features in a series of promotional videos published on YouTube.

IKEA, man, sign me up for this. This is like a real life version of that HGTV show (that I can't remember the name of right now) where they'd tell you what you'd get for your money in different markets. I used to get so mad at that show. They'd be like here is what you can get for $300,000 in Chicago and it'd be a modest 2 bedroom one bath fixer upper. Then they'd show you what you get for $300,000 in like Louisville or Columbus, OH and it'd be a fucking mansion. I'd watch that be like "I AM GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF HERE", but then I'd think I'd probably have my uhaul carjacked so it's just not worth it to try and leave Chicago for a smaller, more boring city.

Tokyo for a $1 though? I am in. 14 Million people. One of the "capitals of the world" and I am going to be in the middle of it all for just $1 a month? Deal. This place isn't even that bad

Shower/bathroom with windows. Let the steam out. Bonus feature that you need to descend into it down a ladder from your bedroom. I'd asked them for a fire pole upgrade. Make the shower an experience.

The bedroom is for laying down. If you want to stand up in your room this isn't for you and honestly you sound spoiled even for wanting to stand in a bedroom. Put your head down on a nice pillow and fall asleep as you dim your pocket lights and look at your barstool outdoors wall art.

When you get up in the morning you get to climb immediately into your climb in closet to dress for the day before you take another step on your commute to work. The entire process takes no more than 15 seconds. That is efficiency.

When you wake up, open your eyes, roll over, this is your view

Your whole life is down there. This arrangement gives you the motivation to start your day or hari kari yourself. You control your own destiny at $1/month

Only issue is the roommate.

Hell of a promotion for IKEA. If Dave Portnoy let me I think I would do it. I mean this is how I live now

I think I can survive a downsize. George can sleep on the bed or even down on the couch before we hit the streets of beautiful Tokyo.

If I did do the move…would need some tools to assemble the IKEA furniture. The draft today is a tools draft
