I’m not a food hot take guy, I don’t dive into those battles online. I also don’t consider this a hot take, but we need to normalize eating stuffing all year round. Why isn’t that a thing? I want to be able to walk into a restaurant in the middle of July and order a nice plate of stuffing. I‘m sure there are places that serve it, but you probably get looked at like you have 4 heads if you try to order it and it’s not around Thanksgiving. It simply is too good to not be able to enjoy all year round.
All the ingredients are available in any month of the calendar, it can go with pretty much any meal, and it’s easy to make! What’s the hold up? We can’t let these social norms control us, let the stuffing be free. I hate that it’s just a November thing, give it to me in March. And I know I’m free to make it whenever I want, and I’ve done that before. I just think it shouldn’t be labeled a Thanksgiving food. its too delicious to be tied down to a dried out, big breasted bird. Hell, stuffing waffles may be a top 3 breakfast, imagine that on a cold winters morning and not just in between the Lions and Cowboys games.
I miss it the other 11 months of the year, I really do. I just want it drowned in a gravy and shoved down my gullet. I’d love to enjoy a Super Bowl with a big plate of wings and stuffing without being judged. And I get that it gets it’s Thanksgiving feel because it’s cooked inside of the turkey most of the time, but it doesn’t have to be. Lets cut loose from that, lets just use the stale bread, celery, onions, maybe some apples, possibly some sausage, lets go wild with it. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, those are all eaten year round, why not stuffing? Lets get stuffed all year round, maybe I make my New Years resolution to eat stuffing once a month in 2022, I hope the rest of you join me.
