AWESOME: Dick Vitale Gets Cleared To Call Games While Battling Cancer, First Game Back Is No. 1 Gonzaga vs No. 2 UCLA

Fuck yeah, Dickie V. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Dickie V is college basketball. I know he's lost his fast ball calling games. I know we've clowned on him a bit but the man lives and breathes the sport. He's the guy we all grew up with calling games. You hear his voice you just know it's college basketball time. For any of us, really at any age, you hear the 'PTPer', 'Diaper Dandy', 'It's Awesome Baby' or just him screaming 'OH OH' over and over again, you know you're likely walking into watch a big game. 

It was made public that he was diagnosed with cancer exactly a month ago. Now? Well, now he gets to call No. 1 Gonzaga vs No. 2 UCLA on Tuesday night. Maybe you remember what happened the last time they played? 

Decent game. Decent shot. Now it would be only fitting for the same sort of game to happen on Vitale's first call back. He deserves it. We deserve to hear him call that game. It's truly only fitting this is the game that he gets for his first call too. Sure, Duke/UNC would have checked out because that's what we grew up with, but No. 1 vs No. 2? Come on. You can't beat that. The dude is calling games despite going through chemo. He doesn't care. Just wants to enjoy college hoops. I can always respect that. 

So shout out Dickie V. Sometimes we need a little awesome news on a Thursday night.
