Florida Has Allowed 42 Points in a Half for the First Time Ever ... to FCS Samford

Florida came into Saturday's matchup with Samford as a 35.5-point favorite. After 30 minutes, the Gators are trailing the Bulldogs 42-35 and Samford's 42 points are the most Florida has ever allowed in a half. Like, ever.

"Bad to worse" would seem like an apt way to describe the way things are going in Gainesville right now. Florida fired defensive coordinator Todd Grantham this week following a 40-17 loss to South Carolina and promptly followed that up by allowing even more points in just the first half to an FCS team. You really hate to see it.

If the Gators fall to 4-6 at the hands of the Samford Bulldogs, you have to imagine Dan Mullen wouldn't make it through Sunday as Florida's head coach. As nails in the coffin go, this would be as big of one as you could possibly have.

Regardless of what happens in the second half, UF has gone from a team competing for a College Football Playoff spot to one getting embarrassed by an FCS opponent and on the verge of firing its head coach. Just a shame.
