Bodies Were Hitting The Gosh Dang Floor All Over The Place In The NHL Last Night

The NHL often treats us to some unbelievable goals and some incredible saves on a nightly basis. Highlights like that are sweet and everything, but every so often it's fun to hop into a time machine and get blasted back to 2002. Back to the good ol' days when attempted murder on the ice got you a slap on the ass and a couple extra shifts from coach as a treat.

We don't get to see too many massive hits these days for a couple of reasons. 1) It seems like anytime you send someone through the Earth's crust it ends up being at least 2 minutes in the box for being too strong. And 2) almost any big hit is immediately followed up by a weak fight these days. Tough to want to crush somebody with a clean hit if you know it's going to cost you 5 minutes in the box.

But there must have been something in the air last night across the league. Maybe it's mating season or something. But the bodies were flying around. So I recommend smashing the play button here, kick back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the show.

First up we have Dustin Brown laying a smackdown on Nick Suzuki so hard that his $7.875M contract came flying out like Sonic losing his rings.

3v3 overtime. So much open ice to work with. And Suzuki still found himself on the train tracks. Hate to see it.

But Dustin Johnson was merely returning the favor here after Alexander Romanov tried his best to put Rasmus Kupari through the boards in the 3rd.

Let me just say right now that Romanov is an absolute killer. Kid is just 21-years-old and already has a lengthy list of souls he's snatched in his young career. There are so many young defensemen coming into the league these days who have this insane offensive upside to their game. I'm just glad that someone like Romanov is around to keep destroying the shit out of people.

Speaking of destroying the sit out of people…Josh Brown is going to have to send flowers to the friends and family of Trent Frederic.

A breakout pass from behind your own goal line all the way up to the red line? You had enough time to dial 911 before that pass even got to Frederic. Clean as could be, too.

No contact to the head. Just lowers the shoulder and puts it right through Frederic's chest. Only thing dirty about this play is how dirty Charlie McAvoy did his boy with that pass.

Next up, we all know that Brandon Tanev has a history with seeing ghosts in his roster headshot photo. But now he's become one himself after this Brayden McNabb hit.

"I see dead people".

And lastly, the biggest hit of the night…

Jordan Martinook going full send for the line change. Ended up on the wrong bench but you gotta love a guy who knows the benefits of keeping those shifts quick.
