16-2 Record Last 18 In Europe, So I Got That Going For Me Which Is Nice!

There have been two breaking news stories coming out of the SHL recently. One is that the $EBR crew is crushing the books with winners lately and the second is that ESPN will be airing 130 of the games during the season. This is great for everyone involved from the players, to fans, and more importantly for all the bettors who can now watch games at work without the worry of their MacBook being infected with a virus.

Murls' Breakdown:

Linköping is a great college town with bars and nightlife but what they do not have so far this year is a good hockey team.  The club was aggressive during the offseason grabbing some nice free agents. Most notably is former Edmonton Oiler Ty Rattie who scored 21 goals and 47-points last season in the SHL.

The big moves have not paid off yet as the team went 0-6 in the preseason and then lost the season opener 3-2. This team has shown no signs of jelling and we don’t see any reason why they would start to turn it around tonight vs. a very tough Skellefteå team.

Skellefteå on the other hand is a viable contender and will make some serious noise this spring.  The team is built really well and has all the pieces to bring a championship to the North. They did lay an egg in their first game but this is a great bounce-back spot. A nice road game might be what they need to secure their first win of the new series.

Also, look for 2023 Top NHL Draft Prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka to make his SHL debut today.

As a coach, I couldn't stress enough to stay out of the box. Don’t give Linköping any opportunity to get going and wake up from this extended hibernation they seem to be in right now.
