Braves' Near No-No Clears the Way for a 2-1 World Series Lead

Ian Anderson continued his Postseason brilliance with five no-hit innings. The Braves bullpen took the no-hitter into the eighth inning before giving up a base knock, but never allowed a run as Atlanta's two runs were enough to take a 2-1 lead in the 2021 World Series.

What can you say about this pitching staff that hasn't already been said this Postseason? Anderson was fantastic. A.J. Minter came in and did his job. Luke Jackson looks to be back to his normal self. Tyler Matzek and Will Smith came in and did what they've done all October and shut everything down. I'd trust this Braves bullpen with my life.

Austin Riley's RBI double in the third inning was all Atlanta was able to put on the board until the eighth, when Travis d'Arnaud added a solo shot to dead center field for an insurance run, though the Braves didn't end up needing it. One would have been enough tonight.

If you're watching these games waiting for the other shoe to drop as it has so many times in Atlanta sports history before, you can keep on waiting. This team just finishes.

I'm absolutely fired up. The Atlanta Braves have a 2-1 lead in the World Series with the next two games still in Truist Park. Go for the throat on Saturday. Put them on the ropes.
