This High School Kid Jumped a Snap Like He Was Playing Madden Against the Computer for the Play of a Lifetime
I'm not sure you could time a play that perfectly if you were playing a video game and turned off the offside slider.
That defensive wizard is Wakeem Page of Cathedral Prep in Erie, Pennsylvania, and I'm pretty sure he has now made the best play he'll ever make on a football field. You really need to watch it five or six times to appreciate how insane it truly is. Every element of what he does is flawless.
He creeps up to the line right as the quarterback is getting under center to take the snap. Then he jumps the snap count perfectly and damn near teleports into the backfield. By the time that poor quarterback has turned around to pitch the ball to his running back, Wakeem is there ready to snatch his lunch money.
It was at this moment the quarterback realized he fucked up.
And it's not like Page gets a hand on it and swats it into the backfield or levels the running back after he gets the ball. He takes the pitch so perfectly in stride that it looks like it was designed to go to him.
That's why you watch film, kids. Anybody can make a tackle at the line of scrimmage, but it takes a special level of preparation to be able to do something like that.
If you're a high school in Pennsylvania with Cathedral Prep on your schedule the rest of the year, maybe switch up your snap count.
