Credit The Houston Astros For Tying The Series 2-2 On The Back Of Laz Diaz
2 outs. 2 strikes. Top of the ninth. Tie ballgame. Laz Diaz delivers in the clutch to give the Astros the lead. That’s just October baseball in a nutshell. No-name guys putting it all on the line and becoming heroes in an instant. You have to wonder why it took Dusty Baker four games to run the Laz Diaz play but he’s got a fresh series a swung home field advantage back to the Astros with this tactical play. Credit where it’s due.
Three hits and two runs was never gonna cut it, horrific umpiring or not. Nick Pivetta delivered and then-some. And while it’s easy to bitch and moan about a blown strike three call that absolutely swung the game in the Astros’ favor, that doesn’t excuse the hottest lineup in baseball going ice cold in a game that would have been a death nail in Houston’s coffin. Their bullpen showed up, tip your cap and be ready for tomorrow.
