Thank God For TJ Watt

Last night was a fairly miserable and exhausting night for Steelers fans besides of course watching TJ Watt (and Cam Heyward), but TJ Watt reminded everyone "yeah - I should have won DPOY last year, I'm the highest paid defender in the NFL, and yeah, I should be in the DPOY conversation again this season".

I mean that stat line - just totally wrecked the game. Had an impact throughout and he did what everyone says the great ones do - make the big time play in the biggest moments. Sack to bring up fourth down in OT and make Seattle have to punt then of course after the offense pussy footed around and went three and out, TJ put on the cape and called game. Two biggest plays of the game on the back of 90 in black and gold. And what's insane is watching back the strip sack he was being at least triple teamed, Everett got a nice piece of his facemask which wasn't called, fought them all off and still got to Geno while punching it out. Just incredible.

He and 97 are two dudes I thank god every day that they are Steelers while also thinking about how much of a damn shame it would be if neither of them got a ring - or at least (another for Cam) shot at playing in a Super Bowl - the ultimate Steelers lore. Ryan Clark said it best last night after TJ won the game:

On a special, special night in Heinz Field where we saw Troy Polamalu, Joe Greene, James Harrison, Mel Blount - legends of the game and the Steelers franchise in the house - TJ Watt showed he'll be up there someday with them, too. Thank god for TJ Watt.
