Max Fried SHOVED Against the Milwaukee Brewers to Even the NLDS at 1-1

That performance — both from Max Fried individually and the Braves as a whole — was just awesome to watch. Fried absolutely gave it to Milwaukee in their home ballpark and Atlanta found enough offense to take Game 2 and even the NLDS at a game apiece.

Fried has been the best pitcher in the National League since the All-Star break and put on a show Saturday night that was a microcosm of what he's done every start since July. He was masterful with his curveball and painted the fastball wherever he wanted for six shutout innings. He was exactly what the Braves needed with their season hanging in the balance.

Will Smith was up to his usual antics, allowing the first two men to reach base in the ninth inning, but got a huge strikeout and then a double play to end the game. The Braves' bullpen has gotten into a couple jams in the first two games of this series, but with the exception of one pitch from Charlie Morton — who was left in an inning too long — the pitching staff has done all you could ask of it and more.

Even though the Braves should have won Game 1, the difference in feeling from 24 hours ago is enormous. Headed back home with a tied series and Ian Anderson ready to take the ball in Game 3 has me fired up. The three runs tonight were enough, but Jorge Soler just missed another two-run homer and you have to figure the offense will be even better in Atlanta.

Let's get after it on Monday, boys.
