Down Two Stars And All The Pressure To Make The World Cup, It's Time For US Soccer To Prove The Golden Generation Is Here

Well here we go. No Christian Pulisic and no Gio Reyna for the next three matches. It's time for one thing and one thing only. The Golden Generation to come through. We still have Pepi and Aaronson and the Robinson's and Dest and Adam and McKennie. We're still loaded. We still have two matches at home against Jamaica and Costa Rica while having to go to Panama. The goal is simple. Need to get at least 5 points. We came through on the road against Honduras to save our first portion of the qualifying and now we need to do it again.

Low key that was one of the most fun soccer matches I watched. Mostly because it was Chief and I randomly stumbling upon a soccer bar in NYC and the place was going wild. But still, a blast. Let's do that again. Here's where we currently stand in the qualifying.

It's pretty bunched up but the fact we get Jamaica at home and a struggling Costa Rica team is where we need to get 6 points. Panama is going to be tough, no denying that. I blogged about it before but we always have to deal with bullshit situations on the road in CONCACAF. We always qualify for the World Cup by taking care of business at home. We blew 2 points against Canada, but 5 points again here and we're sitting pretty. Remember the top 3 advance to the World Cup and the 4th team goes to a playoff. This is a HUGE three stretch segment. Canada has Mexico and Panama. If we can separate from Panama and really keep points separating the top-3 from 4, we're looking good about halfway through.

All I know is it's time for everyone to show up. Pulisic and Reyna aren't there to bail us out. It shouldn't matter. We have the best talent we've ever seen with US Soccer. Now it's up to Gregg to put it on the field and for them to execute. Nothing dumb. Let's go back to back World Cup champs.
